Your Place in the Revolution

At critical times throughout history, university students have sparked massive protests, calling their leaders on their lies and steering their nations in brave new directions. It happened on hundreds of campuses around the world in the 1960s and, more recently, in South Korea, China and Indonesia. It happened again in Greece last year and, as we go to print, it’s happening in Iran.

In this section of the book we feature a series of provocations – mindbombs – designed to explode in the unsuspecting brain, wiping out old neuronal networks and creating spaces for new ones to grow. Download the ones you like at kickitover.org and whack them up in the corridors of your department and around campus. Have some fun. Whip up debate. Invite dissenting guest speakers. Relish in the thrill of playing cat and mouse with your professors. And send us your best mindbombs and winning strategic moves so that we can share them with student groups everywhere.

Neoclassical economics – the theoretical foundation of our unsustainable global system – is a bucket that’s ready to tip … all it needs is for students in economics departments around the world to rise up and give it one good kick!

I believe my place is to teach and learn simultaneously. I am an advocate of self-schooling and create videos on Youtube for teenagers, children, and single parents who realize that children are the future, and notice how “they” steal them to be dumbed down, programmed, and stripped of natural intuition so they can turn the big, hate-death-war machine. I let people know that it is the students job to push the professor into areas not spoken about, especially if it makes us uncomfortable. I speak for those who are not heard and am an adult who agrees and stands by children, teenagers, and adults who are pressured by people who say, “you should send your most precious one to prison-like schools to be destroyed”. I am hear to let them know that their intuition is right in not sending them to the machine and to homeschool them. Many of our places in an evolution (I say this because revolution means to revolve and I think we should evolve, surpass, and uplift) is to teach and bridge the gap from younglings to elders. We who are in the age range of power need to help the others, and as we hold the torch to light the path for them we cannot help but brighten our own. ~ Koolvedge

This is an amazing moment in the history of our world. We are faced with so many problems, most of which can be tracked back to an economic view of the world that is ill-equipped to deal with ecological limits. The neoclassical paradigm is reaching an end, whether we create that end and shift to a sustainable economy or allow the growth machine to kill itself (and most of us) is up to the people. Rise, world citizens! Rise against the conventional! It is your duty to your future and your obligation to any possible future generations! They will no live if we do not steer the world back to a realistic, sustainable model. Go forth and Conquer!
