GM gets adbusted

I work for GM customer assistance and after years of being a punky anti corp guy I now side with GM on this bailout matter. Yes partly because the bailout created a job for me right after I moved to a new city but partly because when the american public calls me everyday and tells me what their complaints are about our vehicles I realize it's hard to please morons and GM did it's best.

Some of my fav calls are:

A lady who was out of her emissions warranty by a few days and had her cat converter fixed at a non gm garage. I told her the warranty was over so her only chance to get money from GM woudl have been to go to a GM dealership and explain that her warranty had barely expired. We couldnt help her because she didn't come ot GM so we cant know what was wrong with her cat converter and GM wouldnt pay to have a non GM part put on. She threataned to sue. She said the only reason we wouldnt pay was because we were going out of business. I told her nobody knew what the market would be like 8 years ago. She said "what does 8 years ago have to do with it?" I responded "thats when you bought a warranty that expired a week ago" she was not happy.

Another guy expected his brake pads to last 170,000 miles and wanted new ones because they only lasted 40,000. I told him that in all honesty with a v8 engin in his car 40,000 miles was actually pretty impressive and 170,000 miles was not possible,, not even the rotors last that long. He also threatened to sue.

A guy called in calling me names and saying I was scum beause I worked for the company that sold him a navigation system that stopped working after less than 6 months. After asking him what kind of nav system he was using he said it was a tom tom,, I asked where he got it and he said target,, I then asked him why he thought GM owed him a new tom tom when we dont make it, didnt sell it to him and didn't install it in his vehicle and he remained silent on the line for over a minute before complaining that we made his cupholders too small. I asked him what size beverage he was trying to accomodate and he hung up.

And you sit there thinking these are just a few calls. Unfortunately not, they are the majority. If you lost faith in american car makers,,, just go to walmart and look at people. Theres a whole hell of a lot more to lose faith in.

We all want to see the mighty fall. GM is just Kanye grabbing taylors microphone or britney fat and high. We want to feel better about ourselves by watching the public foibles of others. Bottom line is you can get full size cars from Gm that will last you a long time and get 33 miles per gallon or more (malibu, impala, hhr,) you can get a lot of mileage in an aveo or cruze,,, the volt from GM will be a plug in electric from america first not asia or europe. Complain all you want but if you stop buying GM because of the 'government motors' anti obama am radio crowd,,, have fun in your hyundai.

I'm not saying there arent some great foreign cars. I'm jsut saying they dont make them in shreveport or detroit. We need these little videos to make fun of GM to divert attention from teh fact that buygin foreign cars is as good for our economy as shopping at walmart.

Is there any real separation between GM and oil? How can it be that car companies make worse cars in terms of fuel consumption with every passing year? I believe the average American car company now makes a product that gets similar mileage to the engine of the 1920’s. How can this be anything short of collusion with oil? GM sucks. Ford, Chrysler suck. I will drive my old, crappy Toyota until there’s an electric car I can afford. No one should buy a new car until it is electric. We have to boycott irresponsible and destructive companies. Imagine what the bailout for GM could do for an brilliant infant co. like Tesla and other electric car start ups. Or how about a Government electric car? What’s really galling is that millions of dollars are still paid to GM lobbyists. So the government is paying to petition itself. — Anonymous

GM is using the bailout money to build their expansion in China, and plan on doubling the number of “Made in China” GM cars in the next 5 years and export those to US. If people were worried about quality of American Cars, how would they feel about buying cars made in China at GM prices? I was just looking up GM’s stock, instead of old symbol “GM”, it’s now “GMGMQ.pk”, which means it’s in bankruptcy. It has 177 billion in liabilities and 91 billion in assets, giving it shareholder equity of negative 86 billion versus 38 billion from 3 months ago, and stock is down down nearly 95% off its yearly high. The only thing holding it together is government bailout, why is US government invest tax payer’s money on rotten companies when renewable energy like solar and wind power companies are growing at 30% a year, why can’t we put our money into that?
